Biblical authority
Scripture, not tradition or a denominational hierarchy, is the final authority for doctrine and church practice.
We use the Baptist name because it communicates long-held convictions about Scripture, salvation, baptism, the local church, and the believer’s responsibility before God.
The label is useful only when the Bible defines the convictions behind it.
Scripture, not tradition or a denominational hierarchy, is the final authority for doctrine and church practice.
Eternal life is received by believing on Jesus Christ, not by works, religious rituals, or personal merit.
Baptism follows salvation, pictures the Gospel, and is performed by immersion. It is not a condition of salvation.
Each local church is accountable to Christ and Scripture and carries out its ministry without ecclesiastical control from outside the congregation.
We observe baptism and the Lord's Supper as ordinances given to the church.
We recognize pastors and deacons as the biblical offices of the local church, with their qualifications defined in Scripture.
