Start with the big picture.
Ezekiel records the ministry of a priest-prophet among the Jewish exiles in Babylon. Through visions, acted signs, warnings, judgments, and promises, the book explains why Jerusalem falls, exposes the sins of the people and their leaders, declares God’s judgment on surrounding nations, and looks beyond destruction to cleansing, restoration, renewed shepherding, resurrection imagery, reunited Israel, a defeated final enemy, and a restored temple and land. One repeated purpose governs the book: that people may know that the LORD is God.
