Start with the big picture.
Micah prophesies against Samaria and Jerusalem, exposing idolatry, land theft, corrupt rulers, false prophets, bribed priests, violence, and religious presumption. The book alternates sharp judgment with some of the Old Testament’s clearest promises of restoration: Zion exalted, a ruler coming from Bethlehem, a remnant gathered, nations taught the LORD’s ways, sins cast into the depths of the sea, and covenant mercy remembered. Micah repeatedly shows that God’s holiness and God’s mercy are not opposites.
