Obadiah

Obadiah is the shortest Old Testament book, but its message is direct and forceful. Edom is condemned for pride, violence against Jacob, standing aloof during Jerusalem’s calamity, rejoicing over Judah’s destruction, entering the gate in disaster, and helping cut off fugitives. The prophet announces that the day of the LORD is near upon all nations: Edom’s violence will return upon its own head, while deliverance and holiness will be found in Zion and the kingdom will be the LORD’s.
