Start with the big picture.
Zephaniah announces the day of the LORD against Judah, Jerusalem, surrounding nations, and ultimately the wider world. The book exposes idolatry, complacency, corrupt leaders, violence, deceit, and refusal to receive correction. Yet judgment is not the end: the prophet calls the meek to seek the LORD and closes with a purified people, restored worship, gathered outcasts, and the LORD rejoicing over his people with love.
