What is happening here?
David wants to build a permanent house for the ark, but God tells Nathan that David will not be the builder. Instead, God promises to establish David’s house, raise up his son, establish that son’s kingdom, and confirm David’s throne. David responds with humility, wonder, and prayer, praising God for his unique work in Israel and asking him to establish what he has promised.
