What is happening here?
After Ahab’s death, Moab rebels. Ahaziah falls through an upper-room lattice and sends messengers to inquire of Baal-zebub, god of Ekron, whether he will recover. Elijah intercepts them and condemns the king for seeking a foreign god as though there were no God in Israel. Ahaziah sends captains to arrest Elijah; fire consumes the first two companies, while the third captain humbly pleads for mercy. Elijah then tells Ahaziah directly that he will die, and he does.
