CHAPTER STUDY WORKSPACE

2 Kings 18

Hezekiah becomes king of Judah and receives one of Kings’ strongest positive evaluations. He removes high places, images, and the Asherah, and destroys the brass serpent Moses made because people were burning incense to it. He trusts the LORD and resists Assyria. In his fourteenth year Sennacherib invades. Hezekiah initially pays heavy tribute, even stripping temple gold, but Assyria still sends a large force. The Rabshakeh publicly mocks Hezekiah’s trust and the LORD, urging Jerusalem to surrender.
