What is happening here?
Naaman, commander of Syria’s army, is mighty but leprous. An Israelite captive girl tells his household about the prophet in Samaria. Naaman arrives with wealth and royal letters, but Elisha simply sends him to wash seven times in the Jordan. Offended by the simplicity and by the river, Naaman nearly leaves, but his servants persuade him to obey. He is healed and confesses that there is no God in all the earth but in Israel. Elisha refuses payment. Gehazi secretly pursues Naaman, lies to obtain gifts, and receives Naaman’s leprosy.
