What is happening here?
The Song of Moses calls heaven and earth to witness. It praises the LORD as the Rock whose work is perfect, contrasts his faithfulness with Israel’s corruption, recalls how God found and cared for Jacob, and foretells how prosperity will lead Jeshurun to forsake God. Judgment follows, yet God will not allow enemies to misunderstand his sovereignty; the song ends with the LORD alone vindicating and avenging. Moses then teaches the song and is told to view Canaan before dying because of his failure at Meribah.
