What is happening here?
Exodus 22 continues Israel’s covenant judgments with laws concerning theft, restitution, property damage, deposits, borrowing, sexual wrongdoing, sorcery, idolatrous sacrifice, treatment of strangers, widows, and fatherless children, lending to the poor, respect for rulers, firstfruits, firstborn, and holiness. The chapter repeatedly joins property justice with protection of vulnerable people and exclusive loyalty to the LORD.
