What is happening here?
Exodus 29 gives the seven-day consecration process for Aaron and his sons. They are washed, clothed, and anointed. A bullock is offered for sin, one ram as a burnt offering, and another ram as the ram of consecration. Blood is placed on the priests’ right ears, thumbs, and great toes, and portions of the offering are waved before the LORD. The altar itself is sanctified through repeated offerings. The chapter then establishes the continual morning and evening burnt offering and closes with God’s promise to meet with Israel, sanctify the tabernacle and priesthood, dwell among the people, and be their God who brought them out of Egypt.
