What is happening here?
Genesis 26 is the major chapter centered on Isaac. During famine, God tells him not to go to Egypt and reaffirms the Abrahamic promises. Isaac repeats his father’s fear by calling Rebekah his sister, but Abimelech discovers the truth. Isaac prospers greatly, provoking Philistine envy and conflict over wells. He repeatedly moves rather than escalating disputes until the LORD gives room. At Beersheba God appears again, Isaac builds an altar, and Abimelech seeks a peace covenant.
