What is happening here?
Genesis 29 records Jacob’s arrival in Haran, his meeting with Rachel at the well, and his entry into Laban’s household. Jacob agrees to serve seven years for Rachel, but Laban deceives him by giving Leah at the wedding. Jacob then marries Rachel and serves another seven years. The chapter closes with the LORD seeing that Leah is hated and opening her womb, while Rachel remains barren. Leah bears Reuben, Simeon, Levi, and Judah.
