What is happening here?
Genesis 8 turns from the flood’s destruction to God’s remembrance and the restoration of the earth. A wind passes over the earth, the waters recede, the ark rests on Ararat, and Noah tests conditions with birds. After God tells him to leave, Noah, his family, and the animals come out. Noah builds an altar and offers burnt offerings, and the LORD promises the regular continuation of earth’s seasons while the earth remains.
