What is happening here?
When the king of Jerusalem learns that Gibeon has made peace with Israel, he gathers four other Amorite kings to attack it. Gibeon appeals to Joshua, and the LORD promises victory. Israel marches through the night, God throws the enemy into confusion and sends hailstones, and Joshua speaks for the sun and moon to stand still while Israel completes the victory. The five kings are executed, and Joshua continues through a series of southern cities.
