What is happening here?
Leviticus 14 gives the ceremonial procedure for cleansing a person after healing from leprosy and then provides rules for plague-like contamination in a house. The priest examines the healed person outside the camp, performs a bird-and-water rite, and oversees washing, shaving, sacrifice, blood, and oil application. Poor Israelites receive reduced-cost alternatives. The chapter then gives a careful inspection process for houses in Canaan, including removal of affected material and, if necessary, demolition.
