What is happening here?
Numbers 16 records a major rebellion against Moses and Aaron. Korah gathers Levites and princes to challenge the priestly order, while Dathan and Abiram reject Moses’ leadership and even describe Egypt as a land flowing with milk and honey. God vindicates the leadership he appointed: the earth swallows Dathan and Abiram’s households, fire consumes the incense-offering rebels, and the censers are made into a memorial covering for the altar. When the congregation complains again, a plague begins and Aaron stands with incense between the dead and living until it is stayed.
