During the days of the judges, famine drives Elimelech, Naomi, and their sons from Bethlehem to Moab. Elimelech dies, the sons marry Ruth and Orpah, and then both sons die, leaving Naomi with her daughters-in-law. When Naomi hears that the LORD has visited Judah with food, she returns home.
