2 Chronicles 9 Overview
The queen of Sheba comes to Jerusalem with hard questions and costly gifts. Solomon answers everything she asks, and she is overwhelmed by his wisdom, prosperity, servants, worship, and ascent to the temple. She blesses the LORD for placing Solomon on the throne. The chapter then describes gold, exotic goods, the ivory throne, military and commercial wealth, and Solomon’s worldwide fame before recording his death and Rehoboam’s succession.

Key understandingExplore deeper
The queen’s visit demonstrates the international reputation of the wisdom God gave Solomon. Jesus later treats her journey as historically meaningful and uses it to condemn people who refuse greater revelation. The splendor is real, but readers should remember Deuteronomy’s royal limits and the fuller account of Solomon’s apostasy in Kings.
