Start with the big picture.
Hosea uses the prophet’s marriage and family as living signs of Israel’s unfaithfulness to the LORD. The book exposes idolatry, political alliances, priestly corruption, empty religion, and refusal to know God, yet it repeatedly reveals the LORD’s covenant love, grief, compassion, and call for Israel to return. Judgment is real, but the book ends by inviting the fallen nation to come back to the LORD and receive healing.
