About This Course
Going to Church: Faithful for a Lifetime is a detailed KJV course about the place of the local church in the Christian life. Salvation is received by faith in Jesus Christ. Baptism follows salvation as an early step of obedience. Then the believer needs a faithful local church where he can continue in doctrine, fellowship, prayer, service, worship, accountability, and the work of the gospel.
What you will learn
- Why the New Testament pattern moves naturally from belief to baptism to being added to a church and continuing faithfully.
- What a local church is and why Scripture calls it the house of God, the church of the living God, and the pillar and ground of the truth.
- Why Jesus Christ loves the church and why believers should value what He values.
- Why preaching, doctrine, prayer, singing, fellowship, the Lord's supper, giving, and service matter.
- How pastors, deacons, and church members function under biblical order.
- Why every member has a place in the body and why church is more than sitting in a service.
- How believers handle love, forgiveness, correction, conflict, accountability, and church discipline biblically.
- Why faithful assembly protects believers from spiritual drift and helps them grow over decades rather than merely for a season.
- How a church family helps through marriage, children, grief, sickness, temptation, aging, and other seasons of life.
- How to choose a sound church, become rooted, serve faithfully, and remain useful to God throughout a lifetime.
The goal
The goal is not simply to convince you to occupy a seat once a week. The goal is to help you understand why God designed the local church, why it matters to your spiritual life, and why a believer should become a faithful, serving, growing part of a sound church for the long haul.
