Follow Thou Me
The risen Jesus provides for his disciples and commissions Peter.
Before and during your reading
At the sea of Tiberias, the disciples catch nothing until Jesus directs them. Then Jesus speaks personally to Peter, asking about his love and instructing him to feed his sheep. Peter turns to ask about another disciple's future, but Jesus redirects him to his own responsibility. John's conclusion stresses the testimony behind the Gospel while acknowledging that Jesus did many other things that were not recorded.
Questions to consider
- What changes when the disciples follow Jesus' direction about the fishing net?
- What responsibility does Jesus repeatedly give Peter?
- How does Jesus answer Peter's question about the other disciple?
